A-round Antwerpen: spinning the way for a photo tour šŸ“ø

Updated: Feb 19, 2020

Moving out is hard but there are always ups and downs with settling in somewhere new. Living in the Netherlands has been no exception, I've struggled with some issues -such as the language- but one of the things Iā€™ve enjoyed the most after settling in continental Europe is Utrechtā€™s convenient location that allows us to get away easily and to experience other cultures just a few hours from home. Here a few photos of a -way too- quick but fabulous trip to Antwerpen-Leuven-Breda. #Antwerpen surprised us as a small beautiful cosmopolitan city. Weather wasn't perfect tho, severe warnings due to storm #Ciara were issued but, despite that, we fell in love with all the city has to offer, so canā€™t wait to give it another try in nicer, sunnier conditions. Definitely my kind of place: many tempting foodie options, a city that showcases its global and multicultural roots, in restaurants and cafe's offering local and international foods and flavours. The exotic market on Saturday morning was a favourite: people having oysters and champagne for brunch, it doesn't get better than that! The stress relief technique of the Belgians also deserves a mention: axe throwing, with epic adverts as 'great stories always start with an axe and a beer' or 'when works feels overwhelming, remember, here you can throw axes' (#urbanwoodcutter). The best view of the city is from the MAS (Museum aan de Stroom, #MASAntwerpen), highly recommended.

Not really a surprise we chose to go to #Leuven as well as it is famous for its breweries...but the town hall and the #GreatBeguinage area were worth facing the gusts, it is an impressive little city. I tried there (at #annaleuven) a Chai latte with an espresso shot: perfect combo.

And last but not least, #Breda was a perfect option for a quick stop on the way back. We managed to hear a rehearsal on the impressive organ in the church #OnzeLieveVrouwekerk, what an instrument! Then by chance we ran into #foodhallbreda and had a great lunch and an even better IPA (#Lagunitas).

Well, this seems more like a food entry for the blog than a photographic one. Problem was that when packing I only took my big lens with me, which is not useful at all for city photography...but luckily I brought my (now) fab toy: a lens ball...and decided to give it a try to a different perspective than the usual souvenir photos, hope you like it, I absolute love the #zoomball.

Big thanks to the sponsor of the trip, for providing food, entertainment and all the laughter. Mā€™n beste maatje, canā€˜t wait for the next one, love ya!
